Tartan Day at the Alamo

On or about April 5th we celebrate all things tartan while honoring the Scots that served at the Alamo.

Among the men who fell at the Alamo were many of Scottish and Scots-Irish descent—heirs to a tradition that had faced down oppression at Bannockburn and beyond.

Their stubborn resolve and fierce independence echoed the old Scottish ethos of standing one’s ground against overwhelming odds.

Highland Games and Celtic Festivals

San Antonio holds their Highland Games and Celtic Festival on the first weekend of April!  Come see men and women compete in feats of strength – all while wearing a kilt! Events include the caber toss, sheef toss, weight over bar, weight for distance, hammer throw, and stone put.

Burns’ Nicht (click here to purchase tickets!)

Burns’ Nicht is an annual celebration held on or around January 25th to honor Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.

The evening typically features the piping in of the haggis, the recitation of Burns’ poems and songs, toasts such as the Address to a Haggis, the Immortal Memory, and the lively Toast to the Lassies and its reply. It’s a warm, spirited gathering filled with Scottish music, whisky, humor, and cultural pride, celebrating both Burns’ legacy and Scottish identity.
